Stefan Kallander is an established teacher with over 5 years experience guiding private students and group lessons in a wide range of ages, ability levels, and genres. He has most recently designed clinics exploring Funk, Soul, and R&B of the United States, particularly in the American South. These clinics focus on tangible guitar performance techniques: rhythm playing, specific chord shapes indicative of these styles, picking/muting techniques, harmonic analysis, and lead soloing to name a few. Additionally, Stefan places utmost importance on informing students of the lineage and impact of black music on the world and the strained cultural climate that birthed this music. He incorporates listening as well, both through a listening list of lesser known artists and by linking stylistic elements that appeared in the early days of these genres and how they reappear throughout modern music. As someone who has not only learned from players that have contributed to the music of Parliament/Funkadelic, The Isley Brothers, Joss Stone, Aaliyah, The Clark Sisters, and Fred Hammond, but also who grew up living and breathing this music in the south, Kallander's unique experience and wisdom are greatly appreciated upon reception.
